Register with our practice

We can only accept patients who live permanently or temporarily within the practice area.

You need to provide your NHS number and as much information as possible on the registration forms to help us ensure you get the best possible care from the start. During busy periods it could take 10-14 days to process a new registration.
If you are registered with NHS Online Services already, this length of time will reduce.

If you are already on medication and/or treatment when you join the practice please ensure that we have full information about those items, so that we can ensure that you have what you need when you need it and also so that we can book a medication review with our practice pharmacist.

At the same time as you register we will register you for the Patient Online Service, unless you tell us otherwise. This will enable you to book various appointments, request repeat medication, and view your health record (including test results) from the comfort of your home. This service is available 24 hours a day.

Temporary Registration

If you’re ill while away from home or need to see a doctor but aren’t registered with one, you can receive emergency treatment from the local GP practice for up to 14 days. After that, you’ll need to register as a temporary or permanent patient.

You can be registered as a temporary patient for up to three months, allowing you to stay on the local practice list while remaining a patient of your permanent GP. After three months, you’ll need to re-register as a temporary patient or register permanently with that practice.

To register as a temporary patient, simply contact the local practice you’d like to use. Practices are not required to accept temporary patients, but they will provide emergency treatment. You cannot register as a temporary patient at a practice where you are already registered.

Named GP

From 1st April 2015 we are required by the Government, under the terms of the latest GP Contract, to allocate all patients a named accountable GP. This is purely an administrative exercise in order that patients can have a named responsible GP. This does not mean that they will be the only GP who will provide care to the patient. Patients are free to choose to see any GP in the Practice in line with current arrangements. If their preferred choice of GP is not available, an alternative will be offered.

The new contract requires the named accountable GP to be responsible for the co-ordination of all appropriate services required under the contract and ensure they are delivered to each patient where required. However, this does not mean that they will be the only GP or clinician who will provide care to that patient. These responsibilities will be carried out within the opening hours of the Practice and do not change the way you currently access care outside these hours. The allocation has been done for all existing patients, and all newly registered patients will be given a named accountable GP on registration.

Please be aware that you may still see any GP of your choice at the surgery and do not have to see your named accountable GP, nor does this mean that you will only be offered appointments with your named GP.

If you have not already been informed of the name of your accountable GP, please ask the receptionist when you are next in the surgery.

To requests proxy access:

  • collect a proxy access form from reception from 10am to 6pm
